House rewires in Fleet & Hampshire.
Whether it's an older property that needs the lot redoing, or a single floor of a 1980s house that's past its best — JSC Electrical plans rewires honestly, works tidy, and keeps you in the loop the whole way through.
Quick answers
What happens during a rewire?
A rewire replaces the fixed cabling, accessories and consumer unit in a property, done in two phases.
First fix: cables are run through walls, ceilings and floors before any plastering or making-good. Second fix: sockets, switches and light fittings are installed, the new consumer unit is energised, and every circuit is tested. On completion you'll get an Electrical Installation Certificate documenting the new system. Typical timings range from 4–5 days for a small flat up to 8–12 days for a larger older property.
Done properly the first time
A rewire isn't something to take lightly. Done well, it's invisible the day it's finished and trouble-free for decades. Done badly, you'll see the chases, the patches and the wandering socket heights for years.
We'll come and look at the property, talk through what you actually need (and what you don't), and write you a clear quote covering labour, materials, certificates and making-good. No "from £…" pricing.

- Outdoor sockets & garden lighting if needed
- Provision for EV charging, solar or heat pumps (planned in if requested)

Partial rewires
If most of your wiring is in good shape but one circuit (e.g. lighting upstairs, or a kitchen ring) is past its best, a partial rewire can be a far better use of budget. We'll always tell you honestly when a partial will do.
If you're considering a rewire because of persistent unexplained faults rather than the age of the wiring itself, fault finding is sometimes a more targeted (and cheaper) starting point.

Overloaded/degraded connections.
Full renovation
Doing the kitchen, bathroom & floors anyway.

Old original fittings, no earth in lighting.
EV / heat pump plans
Existing system can't take the new loads.

Rewire questions
Do I need to move out for a rewire?
Not always. Lived-in rewires are common — work is phased so you have working power and lighting at the end of each day. For larger jobs, or where you have small children, an empty property is faster and tidier.
How much does a rewire cost?
It depends on the size and age of the property, the access, the finish you want and how much making-good is involved. We don't quote without seeing the property — but the survey and quote are free.
Will my walls be wrecked?
There's always some disruption with a rewire — chasing for cables, lifting floorboards, holes for socket boxes. We chase neatly, patch back, and keep mess to a minimum. Final decoration is usually done by you or a decorator after we're out.
How long is the rewire certificate valid for?
An EICR (periodic inspection) is recommended every 10 years for owner-occupied homes and every 5 years for rented properties. The Installation Certificate itself documents the work and stays with the property.
Can you plan for EV charging or solar?
Yes. If you tell us at the survey stage, we'll size cables and consumer unit capacity so adding an EV charger, solar inverter or heat pump later is straightforward.
